In Puerto Toro

Wir liegen 53 sm nördlich von Kap Horn und warten auf Wetterbesserung. Schneeschauer fegen waagerecht übers Boot, der Ofen bullert und es ist gemütlich warm an Bord. Am Vormittag wurden wir vom Eigner der POLARWIND zu einer Wanderung eingeladen.Puerto Toro wurde 1887 während des hiesigen Goldrausches gegründet, heute leben hier noch 6 Familien, von denen 3 Polizeiangehörige sind. Der Ort hat keine Landverbindung zu anderen Ortschaften und alles muß per Schiff angelandet
werden. Da das Versorgungsschiff beim letzten Anlaufen nur 400 Liter Diesel angelandet hat, gibt es nur 5 Stunden Strom pro Tag. Wir wanderten zu einem hoch gelegenen Kliff und hatten eine herrliche Aussicht über den Paso Picton und die umliegenden Inseln.
