From Lanzarote to La Palma
Posted by Hans-Rolf Rauert on
At the 15th of Nov. we flew back to Lanzarote. We encountered a big trafficjam at the Autobahn to Hamburg, but we made it and entered the plane just before take off! We arrived on board RESOLUTE in the early afternoon. It was a lot of fun to see what Frank had done on the boat, everything was shining and many little things had been improved by Frank.
After saying good-bye to Ilse and Ulli, we sailed from Lanzarote at the 18th of Nov. at 12:45 hours. Light drizzle and a little southerly breeze took us of the Island. At 16:00 hours the wind changed to NE and increased to 4 Bft, this was the wind we needed and we estimated we will be at La Palma in about 2 days. But at 24:00 hours the wind decreased to about 2 Bft for the rest of the voyage! Because the weather was very fine, the sun always shinening and a full moon at night we decided not to use the engine.
At the 19th Frank caught an exotic fish which was black on top, blue at the side and a big white bally with a lot of prickles. The question was: Can we eat it? Yes we can. So the meat was grilled and Frank and Barbara liked to eat it. I did not eat anything because I had to call the rescuehelicopter in case they would have gone sick from that fish.
The next morning both where well and during the day we caught to more fishes of the same kind. Now we all had a delicious meal! Many times a lo of dolphins played around the boat. At the bow often the turned half way around and looked at us. What they wanted to tell us?![]()
At the 22nd of Nov at 12:15 hours, the weather still fine we got a very warm welcome from Anne and Marcus SY Flow, Rita and Ulli SY Anni Nad, Heike and Udo SY La Boheme. We had arrived at La Palma.![]()
Distance Lanzarote - La Palma 225 nm
Time at sea: 3d 23.5h
Average speed 2,34kn, the slowest voyage ever!
